Quick answer
Sofa Delivery or Hoisting? Here's The Difference
Delivery gets the sofa to your home. Hoisting gets it inside when the stairs, lift or door are too small.

More about this service
Many jobs need just one; some need both.
You've bought a sofa from a shop, a depot or Marketplace. We collect it, wrap it, drive it to you and carry it into the room you want. See our Sofa Delivery London page for more. A Small Transit with a 2-person crew is £75 an hour, 2-hour minimum (£150), plus one-way mileage.
The sofa won't get round the stair turn, into the lift or through the door. We check the window or balcony from your photos, pad the frame, and lift the sofa in on straps. Hoisting costs £150 to £280, depending on the floor, the size of the sofa and the access.
Combined benefits
Why People Choose Delivery + Hoisting Together
Lots of homes have both problems at once. One booking sorts both.
The courier dropped your new sofa at the kerb because it won't get up the stairs. Tell us when you book and we'll hoist it in.
Kerbside rescueWe hoist your sofa out of the old flat, drive it to the new one and carry or hoist it in there.
End-to-end movesOrdered a big corner sofa? We collect it from the depot, deliver it and hoist it to your floor if needed.
Showroom deliveriesDon't pick a smaller sofa because of a narrow staircase. If it fits the room, we can usually get it in.

Access constraints solved
Sofa Hoisting: When Delivery Alone Won't Work
Period conversions, tight stairs and small lifts often block a sofa. These are the three ways round it.
The sofa is wrapped in blankets, strapped and lifted up through an open window.
Lifted over the balcony rail on guided ropes. Good for flats with a balcony.
If the window is too small, taking off the legs or arms may be enough to carry it up the stairs. Sofa legs or arms are £50.
Furniture hoisting
Furniture Hoisting Service: Sofas, Wardrobes and Tables
A furniture hoist lifts an item from the street or garden straight up to a window or balcony, so it never has to go up the stairs. We hoist sofas, wardrobes, dining tables and other large furniture that will not fit through the door or round the landing.
Hoisting furniture through a window
The item is wrapped in blankets, strapped and lifted to the open window, where a second mover guides it inside. We measure the window opening against the item first, from your photos.
Hoisting furniture over a balcony
For flats with a balcony, the item is lifted over the rail on guided ropes. It is often the quickest way into an upper-floor flat with a small lift or a tight stairwell.
Hoisting to a second floor and higher
Crane or powered-hoist work is subject to suitable equipment and an available time slot. If that equipment is unavailable, we can assess a manual lift by our crew using ropes and straps, including lowering a sofa from an upper floor. Manual lifting is only offered where the item, access and working area allow it safely; it is not a guaranteed alternative. Send photos, dimensions and the floor level so we can confirm the method before booking.
What the hoisting price includes
Standard crew hoisting is £150 to £280, depending on the floor, item and access, with the crew and agreed lifting kit included. A crane or powered hoist requires a separate availability check and confirmed quote; it is not automatically included in that range. Any required council parking suspension is extra.
Where we hoist
Across London, including Knightsbridge, Chelsea, Kensington, Islington and Hampstead, where period conversions and narrow stairs are common, and in towns and cities across the UK.

It is a way of lifting large furniture from outside, up to a window or balcony, when it will not fit through the door or up the stairs. We wrap and strap the item and lift it in with a trained crew.
Yes. We hoist wardrobes, dining tables, bed frames and other large furniture as well as sofas. Send the item's size and photos of the window or balcony and we will confirm it can be done.
The method depends on the item, floor and access. Crane or powered-hoist work requires suitable equipment and an available time slot. If equipment is unavailable, our crew can assess a manual rope-and-strap lift, including lowering a sofa from an upper floor, only where safe and suitable. We confirm the method from photos and access details before booking.
The £150–£280 range covers standard crew hoisting and the agreed lifting kit. A crane or powered hoist is subject to availability and a separate confirmed quote. Any required council parking suspension is extra.
