The short answer
Plan the route before the equipment
How a man and van price is built: the hourly rate, van size, access, mileage, parking and packing. Giga's small van and driver is £55 an hour with a 2-hour minimum (£110); a 2-person crew is £75 an hour, also 2 hours minimum (£150).
- You book whole hours. If the job runs over, extra time is charged in 30-minute steps.
- Mileage is charged one way, collection to delivery, at £1.20 a mile for the small van.
- Parking and long walks to the van add time.
- Photos help us pick the right van and crew first time.
The Main Pricing Factors
The biggest factors are van size, crew size, loading time, distance, parking, stairs, lift access and packing.
Stairs are £10 per person on the crew, per flight, for each hour at that address. A floor is 2 flights; the ground floor is free, and a working lift removes the charge. There is no weekend, evening, bank-holiday or ULEZ premium.
Fixed Quote vs Hourly Rate
Hourly rates are simple and fair for small moves and single items. A fixed total gives certainty on bigger jobs.
Giga charges by the hour, booked in whole hours. If you want to know the total up front, send the full inventory and access details and we will tell you how many hours to book.

How to Avoid Price Surprises
Be upfront about stairs, heavy items, parking distance and extra boxes. If the list changes, tell us before the day.
The simplest way to keep the price right is to send photos of anything that could affect loading time.

Frequently asked questions
It depends on the job. Hourly pricing suits small, simple moves where the time is easy to predict, such as a studio flat or a few items. A fixed total helps on larger moves once the inventory and access are clear. Giga charges by the hour, from £55 an hour with a 2-hour minimum (£110), booked in whole hours. Send your details and we will tell you how many hours to book, so you know the total before the day.
Anything that adds time. The usual causes are stairs, a long walk from the door to the van, waiting at either address, packing, dismantling and parking problems. A bigger van or extra movers also changes the price. Mention all of these when you book, so the plan matches the real job, not the best case.
Yes. Use the booking form, ask Giga in the chat, or email info@gigaremovals.uk. Send both postcodes, photos of the items, the floor at each address, whether there is a lift, parking details and your preferred date and time. Photos show us the right van and crew size far better than a written list, so the price is quicker and less likely to change.
